BONUS BLUEWEBS
BONUS BLUEWEBS is designed to deliver an assessment of the consequences of simultaneously achieving the good environmental status and providing blue growth (i.e. the capability of Baltic Sea food webs to sustainably produce ecosystem goods and services). Achieving optimal/sustainable trade-offs between these goals is challenged by the multifaceted nature of external impacts on Baltic Sea ecosystems.

Ecosystem Accounting
Ecosystem accounts extends the traditional system of national accounts by taking into account holistically both the benefits of natural ecosystem services and the harm caused by human activities to mankind and economic activities.

Finland and sustainable well-being
Respecting the limits of the earth is a prerequisite for the well-being of humanity. The circular economy, low carbon emissions, and securing biodiversity move society in a sustainable direction. Accelerating the change requires quick political decisions also in Finland. Consumption and production in Finland are not at a sustainable level. This has negative effects on the well-being of the entire planet, which ultimately comes back and impacts Finland.

FinWaterWEI II
The Water Management Programme in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, FinWaterWEI II, will be implemented in 2014–2018. FinWaterWEI II builds on the experience acquired during the phase I of the FinWaterWEI, the Programme for Finland’s Water Sector Support to the EECCA Countries under the Wider Europe Initiative (WEI), implemented in 2009–2013.

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is used to study complex value chains to understand the environmental impacts they cause. Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) conducts LCA research to provide knowledge supporting decision-making towards a sustainability transformation.

Nutrients, energy and livelihood for the countryside from a biogas plant (BioRaEE)
In this project farmers’ needs are assessed for recycled fertilizers and their environmental impacts for both farms and production chains. Refinement of biogas digestate is under an evaluation. Recycled fertilizers will be demonstrated in field test in collaboration with farmers. Recycled fertilizers are compared to other fertilizers. Networking with relevant actors in the field is essential in this project and cooperation between farmers and researchers has a key role.
