European Researchers' nights (Blue nights)

The main goal of the Blue Night project is to generate young people's interest in marine science and inspire them to pursue a career in marine research. While young people are the main target group, the project events are open to the public, enabling citizens to see, how research and innovation provide useful social, environmental and economic benefits.

How to approch the goals?

Enlisting the expertise of professional researchers from seven countries, associated with the four European seas, the Project highlights the diverse spectrum and backgrounds of the people working in marine research.

When telling about their "seajourney" in marine science,  researchers introduce young people to a dynamic, exciting and important field of endeavour. Hearing directly from practising marine researchers, who spend their lives on and under the sea can both attract and inspire future career choices and ultimately, with this field experience, good policy decision making.
