Lake buoy for continuous water quality monitoring and weather station. 

  • Research: Real-time water quality monitoring for studying eutrophication and water quality anomalies, impact assessment for restoration measures, model calibration and support for earth observations
  • Main parts: Lake buoy equipped with sensors and data logger (OMC-7006 Buoy by Observator), automated weather station equipped with data logger (Vaisala WXT)
  • Features: Automated field monitoring platform for online lake water quality and weather data
  • Environment condition: Lake during open water season (May-October)
     
  • Sensors:
    • Lake buoy: water temperature, turbidity, DOC, chlorophyll-a for algae, and phycocyanin for blue-green algae
    • Weather station: wind speed and direction, pressure, humidity, air temperature, precipitation

  • User requirements: Maintenance by Luode Consulting and Järvipelastajat ry. (installation, maintenance, cleaning, anchoring, docking and storage during winter)
