Current tasks
My current tasks include circular economy related research and co-operation with stakeholders.
Background
I did my MSc in limnology and PhD in hydrobiology. In my PhD and post-doc work I studied the fast- and drift ice communities and the effects of UV on the sea ice ecology in the Baltic Sea. Since 2015 I have been doing research related to circular economy.
Research topics
Using waste streams (e.g. reject water from biogas production) in algal cultivation
Research projects
- LEVARBIO - Utilization of algal components and biomass as food, feed, and fuel, ERDF 2015-2017
- Bioremediation of reject water from biogas production: nutrient and CO2 circulation using microalgae, Maj and Tor Nessling Foundation 2016-2018
- Capturing and recycling of nutrients ecologically by using algae (LeväRaki), Ministry of the Environment 2018-2019
Other activities
Reviewer for Marine Drugs, Marine Ecology Progress Series
Supervision of students
