Present role
I work as development engineer in Freshwater Centre. I’m responsible for the flood information system and flood related GIS data of Finland's environmental administration. In addition to the maintenance work I’m working in various developing projects especially related to flood mapping (e.g. at the moment related to the dam break hazard analyses and pluvial floods). I provide trainings and user support, as well as, work as a flood risk expert in the national Flood Centre.
Background
I’m water management engineer (M.Sc.) from Aalto-university. I studied Information Processing Science as minor subject. I did my thesis to Finnish Environment Institute in 2010 about the GIS Method for Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment related to the Floods Directive and the national legislation based on it. From then on I have been working with the different stages of the implementation.
