Current tasks
I currently work as a senior research scientist at Syke's Nature solutions in Freshwater ecology group. My duties include e.g. national and international research and development projects related to eutrophication and darkening of waters. My special areas of expertise are the food webs of lakes and especially phytoplankton communities. I also coordinate national blue-green algae bloom monitoring, as well as develop and test eDNA monitoring methods.
Background
I am an aquatic ecologist (PhD, University of Turku). My research has focused on lake restoration and monitoring of food webs in eutrophic fresh waters. I have also studied darkening of lakes and the effects of darkening on the quality of food webs in lakes. I have worked at Syke since 2009.
