Observations reveal a large surface cyanobacteria bloom in the Baltic Proper that extends north close to Finnish coastal areas. However, in the coastal Finnish sea areas abundant cyanobacteria blooms have not been observed. In the southern part of the Bothnian Sea cyanobacteria blooms have been reported. In lakes, cyanobacteria have been observed less than typically this time of summer. If the weather warms and there will be calm weather periods, surface blooms of cyanobacteria may still increase in lakes. More in Finnish.
