Poor weather conditions have had an effect on algal bloom development. In Finnish fresh waters the situation regarding cyanobacteria is normal for the period. In our marine waters cyanobacterial blooms have been observed only sporadically and intense blooms have not been encountered yet. However, a period of warm and calm weather may intensify cyanobacterial blooms quickly. More in Finnish.
